I'm reading this and just nodding. There's so much wisdom here and not just for the worship life of school children. The balance you speak of is necessary for all Friends environments. I fear too many of our meetings have misplaced their rakes and shovels somewhere in the leaf-pile out back. If we pull the jungle back we can see glimpses of sweet fruit underneath but we'll also see the tragedy of fruit choked by the weeds, shriveled up, fallen to the ground and lost.
